Katharine Johnson

Author of The Suspects, The Silence and The Secret

Katharine Johnson is a freelance journalist and editor with a passion for flawed characters, old houses and all things italian (except tiramisu). Her psychological suspense novels The Suspects, The Silence and The Secret have all been Amazon number 1 bestsellers and all feature good people who make bad choices. Katharine studied History at Cambridge and has written a history book about women’s lives in Windsor. She’s been a waitress, school dinner lady, and a room guide in a stately home, and a reader for the Kenneth Branagh International Award for Drama 2020. She grew up in Bristol where the Suspects is set, and has lived in Italy where she still spends a lot of her time patching up a rickety farmhouse, and where the Silence and The Secret are set.

In Berkshire she belongs to two local writing groups and helped form Ascot Writers. Katharine enjoys giving talks at book groups and festivals on her own or as part of The Noir Collective, which she founded with two other psychological suspense authors. She blogs and reviews books at Katy’s Writing Coffee Shop. When not writing, she can usually be found in a coffee shop or travelling with her family or on a plotwalk with her partner in crime-writing, Monty the spaniel.
